Bargains Galore!

I love a good bargain...and I know where to find them. Every year in Minturn Colorado (ten minutes from Vail) they have a giant rummage sale. The residents of Vail donate their used goods for the cause, and all proceeds benefit charities and the Eagle Rock Community Fund. So every year, I pile in the car with my sisters (and this year I took Bailey and Sariah) and we drive three hours to rummage through endless piles of anything to find that treasure that we're seeking.
This is just looking into the building from the end of the hall. There are about 12 large rooms in this building that are piled high with stuff. That's not counting the hallways, where more is piled and hung. This picture was taken at the end of the day, so the crowds had left for the day, but earlier in the day there were hundreds of people crowded into the hallway and the rooms.
And this is just a fraction of what is outside....everything from furniture (you name the piece and they have it) to vehicles and dishwashers, swingsets, etc. Of course, this year we hauled a trailer all the way to Minturn, so we weren't going to leave without a piece of furniture. I ended up buying a dresser and file cabinet, both in pretty good condition. (It's only a bargain if it's usable.)
This is in the coat/hat room. Again, piles of hats and gloves and all sorts of winter wear, and racks full of coats, jackets, and some of the ugliest snowsuits EVER! This is where the fun begins. We try on everything....and you should see the looks we get!
This is my adorable sister Shauna in the jeans/sweater room. She has just scored by finding the "Interesting Blue Jeans" rack. (It was actually labeled that way!) Some of them were cute, I ended up with a pair of Banana Republic Trouser jeans for $8.00!
SWEET!!! My sweet sister Connie totally got the medal for finding the ugliest things, and then putting them on and making us all laugh until our sides were splitting. This coat is pretty bad, but I think her "Eye of the Tiger" coat was worse....it was black and had "eyes" on it like the male pheasants do. SO HILARIOUS!
And I found some pretty awesome hats for the kids to wear this winter when we go sledding. They are something I had never seen before....but I tried them on and decided that each of my kids had to have one. You can't really tell, but the fold down flap goes all the way around the back of the neck to keep the cold air out. SCORE!!!
Yep, another successful year at the "Vail Sale." I always come away excited for the next year!
